Hi all,
I just finished doing emerge -e world i my ~x86 gentoo box.
And i updated /etc correctly (i think), so i reboot, and nvidia module doesn't load.
I had removed /lib/modules/mykernel/video/* and reintaled nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx and do opengl-update nvidia
But problem persist
This is the error:
Code: | FATAL: error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.11-gentoo-r6/video/nvidia.ko): invalid module format |
Any idea?
Thanks[code] _________________ AMD Athlon XP-M 2500+ @2200MhHz|1GB DDR @400MHz Dual-Chanel|NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420|SB Live 5.1|ADSL 512/128 Arsys

Do you have loadable modules enabled in the kernel? |

Yes, i have it. So, the others modules loads. Only nvidia doesn't want to be loaded.... _________________ AMD Athlon XP-M 2500+ @2200MhHz|1GB DDR @400MHz Dual-Chanel|NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420|SB Live 5.1|ADSL 512/128 Arsys

i have installed nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx 1.0.6629 and i have the same problem!
So, i think the problem isn't in nvidia drivers, but where???

I had a similar problem, I reemerged nvidia-kernel and it told me don't enable rivafb in kernel.
I recompiled the kernel without rivafb support, reemerged nvidia-kernel (1.0.7174) and modprobe nvidia worked! |

Solved!
The problem was similar to yours, andrewf.
I saw in F12 terminal anything about gcc 3.4 that may been gcc 3.3. The problem seems that yesterday i changed gcc to 3.4. So i had recompiled the kernel and now works
Thanks. _________________ AMD Athlon XP-M 2500+ @2200MhHz|1GB DDR @400MHz Dual-Chanel|NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420|SB Live 5.1|ADSL 512/128 Arsys

Moved from Kernel & Hardware to Duplicate Threads in favour of 'modprobe nvidia' fails. _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |
