Ok, so I got Gentoo installed and then went on to install XFree86 and Gnome. I then installed the nvidia drivers successfully. My problem is with the mouse. At first, the xf86config script set the protocol to microsoft, and the mouse didn't even move, with both /dev/mouse and /dev/psaux. I then changed the protocol from microsoft to IMPS/2. Now, I can move the mouse, but it's slow. The mouse also clicks when I'm not clicking and it keeps moving back to the bottom left corner. It's weird, I'm trying to go to the top right corner and it jumps back down to the bottom left. It's also a pain since the gnome bar starts over there so it's going up and down. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

Are you running gpm? gpm has known issues with XFree86.

The same thing occurs with my mouse. I use a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (the big red glowing one) and I suspect that it isn't entirely compatible with the IMPS/2 code used in Xfree86. What exact mouse do you have?
Sadly, the only solution I have found is no solution. Either I use the regular mouse protocol with no mouse wheel, or I use the IMPS/2 protocol with a confused mouse. _________________ The greatest deeds are still undone, the greatest songs are still unsung... |
