problems with emerge after upgrade

I upgraded my portage following the instructions listed here: http://lists.gentoo.org/pipermail/gentoo-user/2002-May/022860.html

However, I get this error when trying to emerge stuff:
root@z portage # emerge media-sound/grip

Any ideas?

Figured it out. I ran etc-update and it fixed it all.
