|
|
Hi !
I would like to know if i can optimize hdd access on a scsi hdd ?
We found lots of information for ide drives but not for scsi
what do you think of this perfs with a 9gb scsi
Code: |
Chip sym53c875, device id 0xf, revision id 0x14
On PCI bus 0, device 3, function 1, IRQ 4,7e6
Min. period factor 12, Wide SCSI BUS
Max. started commands 1022, max. commands per LUN 64
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 08 Lun: 00
Vendor: FUJITSU Model: MAB3091S SUN9.0G Rev: 1505
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
|
Code: |
/dev/sda:
Timing O_DIRECT cached reads: 760 MB in 2.00 seconds = 380.00 MB/sec
Timing O_DIRECT disk reads: 38 MB in 3.11 seconds = 12.22 MB/sec
|
TIA ! |

I've heard that hdparm isn't ready for scsi yet. ( that was same time ago but ), so setting DMA and such isn't possible. Correct me if im wrong anyone _________________ printf("format string what?"); |

Hdparm for SCSI? I never even considered it. I would think that would matter on how you compile your kernel/modules and not so much a userspace utility. But then again... |

Yes, of course it's not to set any dma settings ! it's scsi
We can use it, but it seems not to be ready for scsi :
man hdparm :
Code: |
Although this utility is intended primarily for use with (E)IDE hard disk devices, several of the options are also
valid (and permitted) for use with SCSI hard disk devices and MFM/RLL hard disks with XT interfaces.
|
I would like to know if i can optimize that or not, with hdparm or other, to know in a first time if the system performance is good.
Thx for your answers ! |
