emerge world (but not everything)

Hi all.

I'm pretty sure this will be a simple answer.... but

How can I do an emerge world, but leave out a certain package?

For example, I have mysql installed, and everything is working fine. I want to do an emerge world but I don't want to touch mysql.

Reason being I have tried to upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1 and it doesn't work for me. So I just want to leave it.

What's the best way?

Put dev-db/mysql-4.1.14 in package.mask - then, your current version of mysql will be recompiled, along with a hundred other packages.
