Am I drunk or what? |

WTF, I just installed my sysem last week is 3.1 not on the portge tree?
Here's what I get from a pretend kde emerge:
Code: | Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild U ] kde-base/arts-1.0.5a [1.0.4-r1]
[ebuild U ] kde-base/kdelibs-3.0.5a [3.0.4-r1]
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdegames-3.0.5a
[ebuild U ] kde-base/kdebase-3.0.5a [3.0.4-r3]
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdenetwork-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] media-video/xanim-2.80.1-r4
[ebuild N ] media-sound/mpg123-0.59r-r1
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdemultimedia-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdetoys-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdepim-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] media-libs/svgalib-1.4.3-r4
[ebuild N ] media-libs/libsdl-1.2.4.20020601
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdeaddons-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] app-arch/rpm-4.0.4-r4
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdeadmin-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdeartwork-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdeutils-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] media-libs/giflib-4.1.0-r3
[ebuild N ] media-libs/imlib-1.9.14-r1
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdegraphics-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kdeedu-3.0.5a
[ebuild N ] kde-base/kde-3.0.5a |
If I only have 3.0.5a and 3.1's on the portage tree how do I make it upgrade? (the pretend doesn't seem to list KDE 3.1) |

KDE the 3.1 rc builds are either masked or marked unstable. That is why they don't show up in the portage tree. Try this:
Code: | #ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -p kdebase |
If you have a relativly recent rsync, that should give you a barebones install of kde-3.1_rc6. |

I just rsync'd the other day, they're still not there:
Code: | Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild U ] kde-base/arts-1.0.5a [1.0.4-r1]
[ebuild U ] kde-base/kdelibs-3.0.5a [3.0.4-r1]
[ebuild U ] kde-base/kdebase-3.0.5a-r1 [3.0.4-r3] |
maybe next week.
When they are, do you think there'd be a way to just merge konqueror or even better just the tabbing function?
Or should I just try to rebuild (painfully slow right now, plus doesn't render as nice as konq) phoenix, I found a link on making the daily builds fly a little faster. |

Zenon - I don't think yokem was quite clear.
KDE 3.1 is still in pre-release. They just released rc6 (That is RELEASE CANDIDATE 6) the other day.
rc6 is supposed to be the last rc before it is release.
If I were you I would just wait until 3.1 is officially release - at which time Gentoo 1.4 will be officially released as well.
This is the safest bet.
If you REALLY can't wait then go find your "package.mask" file (I can't remember where it is right now and I am away from my computer) and comment out all of the kde3.1 packages - then portage will find them.

KDE 3.1 will probably come out on Monday.(or early next week at earliest). the final ebuilds hours soon after, so I'd wait until then. |
