I updated to baselayout-1.11.10-r2, and the PROTOCOLS variable seems to have been removed from rc.conf. Where'd it go? I haven't seen a reason to remove it anywhere. Thanks! |

Read the changelog in the baselayout source package. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

Ah yes, you're right... I thought I looked through there, but I should have tried using grep or something. Thanks! |

Nope, I was talking about /etc/rc.conf. It is confusing sometimes that there's an /etc/rc.conf and an /etc/conf.d/rc. Oh well! |

I still don't get it. I looked through /usr/doc/baselayout-1.11.10-r4/ChangeLog.gz and found something about adjusting the PROTOCOLS comments to prevent this bug. Which is commented to be fixed by adjusting the comments in rc.conf.
There's nothing about removing PROTOCOLS or moving it to some other config-file.
So, can i remove PROTOCOLS from /etc/rc.conf or not? _________________ In a world without fences and walls, who needs Gates and Windows? |

Removing it should be just fine. The comment that says it should be removed isn't in the changelog until baselayout >=1.12, but it acts like it hasn't done anything for a while now. |
