I wanted to update man so I typed
and it emerged the new man and then unmerged the old man. Then it did something that I didn't like so much. Then a bunch of programs came up on the screen to be unmerged. Like a ton. Now when I try to emerge something I get this:
Code: |
root@rsilva usr # emerge humorixfortunes
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-games/humorixfortunes-1.4-r1 to /
Traceback (most recent call last):

Mozilla also is not working anymore, like it is gone. When I search for it this happens:
Code: |
root@rsilva usr # emerge search mozilla
Searching... \
aux_get(): (1) couldn't open cache entry for net-www/mozilla-1.0-r3
Check for syntax error or corruption in the ebuild.

aux_get(): (1) couldn't open cache entry for net-www/mozilla-1.3a

emerge: search: aux_get() failed, skipping
| Also konqueror works but all the buttons have squares instead of letters. Ahhhh!!!
Yipes! Help please!! What happened??? |

Of course my computer wouldnt start back up once I restarted, so I booted to the live cd and unpacked the stage 2 tarball and redid some stuff from the manual, like redid my fstab file. Anyway I started up and got to the login screen fine but then when I typed root and enter I got an error from like /etc/login I think about some file not existing. What the....??? Now I cant login!
This has happened before when I tried to update a program and all of a sudden many programs just disappear. Why does portage do this??? This is a big problem and needs to be addressed. |
