Hi
Ive been very happy with gentoo/kde over the last few months, but now im really stuck.
When i booted my pc this morning KDM gave me a window without user icons. i logged in, the splash screen didnt appear, only a small black line was visible.
My desktop showed up, with background and all the shortcuts, but without icons.. the icons in the taskbar, konq , the K-menu dissapeared...
Changing to another icon theme in Kconfigurator didnt solve this problem.
(and jes, the incon files are there)
I did an emerge -u world the day before , which emerged a new qt.
So i tried reemerging the old one and re-emerging kde3, but the problem remains..
I tried taking a screenshot but KSnapshot and Pixie refused to write te file!?
(the rest of the system is working 'normally' , im working with openoffice, xmms and KXIcq and they work just fine.
Nevertheless, this problem is really annoying
any help is really appreciated! |

This has been discussed in the archives. I don't remember what the exact answer is, but it has to do with libpng. You have to remerge it, I believe. (but check the archives to make sure)

Ok you could have a similar problem as described here : https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=3188 . Applying the symlink might do the trick provided you already have libpng installed. |

thanks for the quick replies.
re-emerging kdebase and kdelibs did the trick.
I've got my icons back now, but the KMail icons are gone.
KDevelop & Krusader however finally show icons (which they didnt before) so there still seems something weird going on.
But im happy again |
