hi all

I bought an audigy soundcard (live OEM) which I'm having real problems getting to work

I've rebuilt my kernel a *lot* (with and without alsa emu10k1 as modules, with oss where it was required (for both options below, src and ebuild))

I've tried the ebuild for emu10k1 and the src (from sourceforge) for emu10k1-v0.20b and emu10k1-v0.20a

'making' source completed fine. I put 'alias sound emu10k1' (no quotes) in

/etc/modules.d/aliases
also tried /etc/modules.conf (although it told me not to :)

I get *no* sound at all.

trying with xmms moans about no /dev/dsp
symlinking /dev/dspw to /dev/dsp has no effect

Is this (as its OEM?) unsupported, or am I being *really* stupid? I have 48 hours to return it to get money back, or give up and install 'doze on the bit of my HD that used to contain debian whilst i tested gentoo - and then fell in love with gentoo, leaving that free :)

# lspci -v

(Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 03)emu10k1-v0.20b
Subsystem: Creative Labs SB0090 Audigy Player)

# uname -a
Linux tcgent.coram 2.4.20-gentoo-r1 #4

if more configs are needed I can supply.

hope someone call help - or tell me it's a goner, and to give up :(

in /etc/modules.d/emu10k1 you need to edit the two entries and change emu-script to read audigy-script.
then modprobe emu10k1
if that works, add emu10k1 to /etc/modules.autoload
then update-modules and your done.
