Ever since emerging Firefox 1.0.2 I'm getting these small extraneous windows opening seemingly randomly with the title "Gecko". The window is very and the title can not be seen unless it is manually resized. No other content exists in these "Gecko" windows.

Any clues?

I get the same thing with firefox - i.e. I get small empty windows with the title "firefox-bin" in addition to the new opened window when I already have one firefox window open and click on the icon in my kde kicker to open another one. It's quite annoying since it makes kicker quite cluttered (or should I say "kicker kuite kluttered"?).

If you look closely, they are extremely small browser windows. When you bring them up, you'll see a small 1cm by 4mm thing floating on your screen. If you grab it just right you can stretch it. I think this is part of a new kind of pop-up ad that has appeared recently. I get a lot of empty "gecko" windows if I go to http://www.zophar.net and browse around some links for emulators.

I would think the same things, except it happens with a fresh profile, on startup of a new window for me.

that doesn't sound like a popup to me.

This was a bug in mozilla-launcher 1.29. It is now fixed in mozilla-launcher-1.30. Just sync when it's available in portage.

Here is the bug:

Yep, it was the moz launcher. Not pop-ups.

I'm using mozilla-launcher 1.32 and after a recent emerge -uDp world, I've been getting this gecko windows popping up in the same manner. Has anyone else had this problem with mozilla-launcher 1.32?
