Hi,

I was performing emerge -uD world, and at almost the end of the 109 files, I got this.
Code:
Wine build complete.
make: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/wine-20050111-r1/work/wine-20050111/documentation'
docbook2html -u wine-devel.sgml
Using catalogs: /etc/sgml/sgml-docbook-3.1.cat
Using stylesheet: /usr/share/sgml/docbook/utils-0.6.12/docbook-utils.dsl#html
Working on: /var/tmp/portage/wine-20050111-r1/work/wine-20050111/documentation/wine-devel.sgml
jade: error while loading shared libraries: libosp.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
make: *** [wine-devel.html] Error 8
make: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/wine-20050111-r1/work/wine-20050111/documentation'

!!! ERROR: app-emulation/wine-20050111-r1 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 91, Exitcode 2
!!! docs
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

It seems like jade is not installed:
Code:
[ebuild  N    ] dev-java/jade-3.2  +doc -jikes 1,585 kB

Should it mean I have to first install jade and then resume?
Also, I found this on the Internet but I think it doees not apply to me:
Code:
ln -s /usr/src/libosp.so /usr/lib/libosp.so.3
Correct?

Thank you,
Spiro

After running an update on my other box yesterday, a revdep-rebuild -p revealed that openjade needed to be reinstalled. I suspect that you also need to do that.

Hi hensan,

thank you for replying to my post.

As of now, my emerge -uD world has been interrupted. As I understand, I should run revdep-rebuild -p. Is this correct and this should be all. Correct? But, can I run it while in the middle of emerge world?

Thank you,
Spiro

Yes, you can run revdep-rebuild now, then finish the update by running emerge -uD world again. Or you can finish the update with emerge --resume --skipfirst, then run revdep-rebuild and then emerge -u wine.

Hi hensan,

As I never used this revdep-rebuild command, I wish to ask for to understand.

# revdep-rebuild
First it started doing
Code:
Checking reverse dependencies...
Packages containing binaries and libraries broken by any package update,
will be recompiled.

Collecting system binaries and libraries... done.
  (/root/.revdep-rebuild.1_files)

Collecting complete LD_LIBRARY_PATH... done.
  (/root/.revdep-rebuild.2_ldpath)

Checking dynamic linking consistency...
  broken /usr/lib/libquicktime/lqt_dv.so (requires libdv.so.2)
  broken ..........

Then, I got this
Code:
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild   R   ] apphensan-text/openjade-1.3.2-r1
[ebuild   R   ] media-libs/libquicktime-0.9.2_pre1
[ebuild   R   ] media-video/mjpegtools-1.6.2-r3
[ebuild   R   ] media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre5-r5
[ebuild   R   ] media-video/transcode-0.6.11
Now you can remove -p (or --pretend) from arguments and re-run revdep-rebuild.

Can you explain what this means and what should I do, if I have to do anything?
Code:
Now you can remove -p (or --pretend) from arguments and re-run revdep-rebuild.

Thank you,
Spiro

Just do what it says, run revdep-rebuild without -p.

Ha, I see.

I assumed that the and was stating to do two things: remove and re-run.
Instead, it means just run revdep-rebuild again. I got it.

Thank you,
Spiro

This is crazy!

This is a new issue, while revdep-rebuild running I got this:

Code:
>>> clean: No packages selected for removal.

>>> emerge (4 of 5) media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre5-r5 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) MPlayer-1.0pre5try2.tar.bz2
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) font-arial-iso-8859-1.tar.bz2
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) font-arial-iso-8859-2.tar.bz2
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) font-arial-cp1250.tar.bz2
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) mplayer-1.0_pre5-alsa-gui.patch.tar.bz2
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) svgalib_helper-1.9.17-mplayer.tar.bz2
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) Blue-1.4.tar.bz2
 * You do not have win32codecs with real
 * support builtin!

!!! ERROR: media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre5-r5 failed.
!!! Function pkg_setup, Line 98, Exitcode 0
!!! (no error message)
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

Result is not OK, you have following choices:
- if emerge failed during build, fix the problems and re-run revdep-rebuild
    or
- use -X or --package-names as first argument (try to rebuild package, not exact
  ebuild - ignores SLOT!)
    or
- set ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~<your platform>" and/or /etc/portage/package.unmask
  (and remove /root/.revdep-rebuild.5_order to be evaluated again)
    or
- modify the above emerge command and run it manually
    or
- compile or unmerge unsatisfied packages manually, remove temporary files and
  try again (you can edit package/ebuild list first)

To remove temporary files, please run:
rm /root/.revdep-rebuild*.?_*

Why does it say I do not have win32codecs when emerge shows I have it?
Code:
emerge -pv win32codecs
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild   R   ] media-libs/win32codecs-20050115  +quicktime -real 0 kB

Please adivce...

Thank you,
Spiro

It doesn't say you don't have the win32codecs, it says "You do not have win32codecs with real support builtin", which is confirmed by your emerge -pv, notice the -real.

Apparently you have real in the local USE flags for mplayer, so you need to add it to win32codecs' flags as well, or set it globally in make.conf. Then re-emerge win32codecs.

Hi hensan

thank you! I did not interpret properly what the system said. thank you for showing me this. I now understand to what it referst to when it says, with real support builtin.

Now, in order to built real into win32codecs, I should set it globally in make.conf as I prefer.
But, I remember that when i make any change to use flags in make.conf, I have to adapt my Entire System to New USE Flags. This means running emerge --newuse world and emerge --depclean and then continue with revdep-rebuild.
Is this my case? If yes, would this sequence be ok:
- emerge --newuse world
- emerge --depclean
- emerge win32codecs making sure that there is +real
Then resume with
- revdep-rebuild

Thank you for explaining these things to me. This is all new to me.

Thank you,
Spiro

Typically, yes, you should run emerge --newuse world when you change your USE flags, however in this case that is not nescessary since only mplayer and win32codecs use this flag. After you add the real flag, just re-emerge win32codecs, and then try revdep-rebuild again.
