How do i use mplayer w/ tv?
i started it with

mplayer -tv on:driver=v4l:device=/dev/video0
|
but i get poor audio (w/ skips) and a green screen instead of video. How di i fix this?
Is there a way to change chanels w/out restrting?
Is ther a page that covers this. The man page wasn't detailed on this kinda stuff.
TV works fine w/ tvtime, but i want to be able to use mplayer to record. |

Is that the entire command line you're using? Mplayer also needs to be told the channel list, norm, and input to use. Input is numeric and should be 0 for most cards, norm depends on your local video standard (NTSC or PAL), and channel list depends on your source. The channel list names you can select in XawTV should work for mplayer as well. I used to use a wrapper script to use mplayer with webvcr, but I've since switched to lavrec. Mencoder was somehow making 30fps videos, even though my source (NTSC) was 29.97fps, and I would later have sync problems when I tried to edit them. That was around 0.90_pre10, I don't know if that problem is fixed in current mencoder |

Mplayer IMHO isnt the best thing for tv recording. I would suggest something like xawtv or ffmpeg. These tools are also a bit easier to use. You'll find both of those in the portage tree. _________________ --------------------------------

Hi,
i am looking TV with the output of an VHS-Videorecorder.
My mplayer commandline is:
mplayer -tv on:driver=v4l:width=768:height=576:outfmt=i420:input=3 -vc rawi420 -vo xv -vop pp=0x20000 -quiet -double -dr -fs
(all in one line;-)
look at the -tv option in the mplayer manual |
