Doesn't anyone use the search feature anymore? I was just in the kernel and hardware forum and noticed like mad duplicate threads that could've easily been resolved by reading older threads. STupid. |

Doesn't seem like it does it!
I think as a community we need to update more of the Gentoo wiki articles. Not only with the step by step instructions, but take detailed problems encountered in the threads and post the information succinctly with the solution in the wiki article.
As an example take the case of ALSA.
Not only would you list the steps to install ALSA, but list the symptoms and steps to check for specific problems which continually come up. In the case of ALSA, things like in audio group, device node permissions, etc. |

Moved from Other Things Gentoo to Gentoo Forums Feedback.
If you see dupes, please could you report them in the report thread, above? That way we can do something about them. And for discussions about the search, and how useful it may or may not be, please see this thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-33345.html _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

to be fair, I've noticed that sometimes the search feature here just doesn't find the results you need,
and yes, I use 'item1+item2' etc |
