Quote: | Hi.
As I didn't find the file /var/log/messages I emerged syslog-ng without
remebering that I installed metalog as the primary logger.
I did unmerge syslog-ng, expecting that this action would clear up the problem.
However, still everytime I emerge something I get this message :
Code: | >>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
* Caching service dependencies...
* Service 'syslog-ng' already provide 'logger'!;
* Not adding service 'metalog'...
|
What can I do to fix this?
thnx,

Doh...
I removed syslog-ng from /etc/init.d/
Ran env-update... all back to normal...

I had a similar issue when I started out with metalog. I then decided I didn't like it, installed syslog, and I'd get the same error at the end of every merge mentioning metalog instead. Removing /etc/init.d/metalog fixed the problem.
You'd think unmerging would have done this...
Thanks! |
