This error causes to the box to start beeping does anyone know what this means

Assuming there are no problems with your SCSI controller, I'd say it looks like your hard drive is dying. If your drive supports SMART, you might try using the tools from the sys-apps/smartmontools package to see if SMART confirms problems on the drive. |

If it is a reasonably modern drive it probably does. I have a D1000 array with c.1999 drives and they are all SMART capable. emerge smartmontools, configure it, and start it up. It will tell you if they are SMART capable or not. |
