I'm wanting to install security cameras in my car. I'd been looking for something that could do near-IR especially for night time security even though I'm putting motion sensors in to turn on the cabin light... Now that the slashdot article came out, I am having no trouble finding a Linux compatible camera that can do the IR stuff too. I am looking at USB1.1 cams to do maybe 640x480 at 1-2FPS.
My question is this, I'm looking at the Soekris NET4801 board. It has a NSC SC1100 "586 class" processor. Can it handle three or four webcams at the same time taking pictures that frequently at that resolution? I'm really pressed with this question because I need something that doesn't consume too much power, maybe 1 watt for the board when the HDD is spindled down. I have a deep cycle battery, but I can only drain it so much.
Thanks for your help. |
