How can I make a screenshot with something playing in it (eg. mplayer playing a DVD)?

'import' and the gimp tool both give a blue- or magenta-colored box where the picture should be.

fire up mplayer with 'mplayer -vo x11 filename.avi' or (I think) '-vo vesa'

You'll be able to screenshot the video.

also you might want to check out 'import' from the imagemagick tools
'import -window root screenshot.jpg', this way you don't have to fire up gimp.

Ok, now it works nicely. Too bad the x11 driver isn't too good (I prefer xmga).


And I know about the import tool, as I said in my original post.
