|
|
Hi there,
I'm in the process of doing a stage 1 installation on a dual 400 E250 with 2GB and 4x32GB disks. I have the system bootstrapped and all is well, till I go to emerge the system.
Code: |
livecd src # emerge -p system
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating system dependencies ...done!
livecd src #
|
Couple of strange things that could be the cause.
1: I am chrooted to the env, yet the system name appears to be "livecd". Possibly this is because I am connected via ssh and not on the local console.
2: The disk layout is as follows
Code: |
/dev/sda1 35005248 72392 33154680 1% /mnt/gentoo
/dev/sdb1 35562492 32840 35529652 1% /mnt/gentoo/home
/dev/sdc1 35562492 3675572 31886920 11% /mnt/gentoo/usr
/dev/sdd1 35562492 49700 35512792 1% /mnt/gentoo/var
|
This should not be a problem.
3: Using linux26-headers.
So am I missing anything here? Is there something different about sparc that is not in the installation handbook (I have done numerous x86 and PPC installations).
Thank you for your time,

1. I assume you did env-update etc. ?
2. if that is your disk layout now, someting is definitely wrong... _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

1: Yes, and sourced the /etc/profile
2: That is the disk layout from the livecd environment and not the chrooted env.

Repeating the install procedure from scratch gives the same. Will attempt do a stage3 installation to work around the issue. Regressing a stage 1 install on x86 seems to work fine, so this problem appears to be limited to 2004.3/sparc.

What does everyone else get when they do an "emerge -pv system" on sparc?
