After switching from 2.6.11-rc4-love1 to -love2 Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem fails to connect.
Modem syncs correctly. When it comes to pppd call adsl it fails to connect the net.
It seems that it's sthg with the bk-usb or IRQ. But I don't know what's the issue.
I'll stick with 2.6.11-rc4-love1.

Hey , I also have speedtouch - this is my only way to connect (neostrada).
Working without problems here with driver from the kernel - as module.
@WladyX : Sorry I haven`t idea at now - but maybe I`ll search for some option , maybe will be better (or not hehe )

If I want to use the genetic anticipatory scheduler do I disable the other ones? is there some little writeup that would lead me to make wise decisions about the numerous extra features provided here?

Not any ...yet - I think something like How-to or review will be a good idea ... ?
quick answer : If You want to test genetic anticipatory , You can have compiled all other io schedulers also . You can change io scheduler beetwen cfq,no-op,deadline and anticipatory ar run-time via this script for ex : http://vivid.dat.pl/fallow/pub/scheduler_change_script

If You want to use Genetic Anticipatory You must select it from Love-Sources features. Some people have problems with it and deplugging usb-cameras etc. If You want "normal/regular" anticipatory just don`t select Genetic Anticipatory from Love-Seatures.

nop, r4-love1 was very stable for me (made it my stable kernel as well!!), I missed out on the upgrade for official release of love1, but updated with love2.
I copied the .config from r4-love1 to love2, only difference was for this one I added nvidiaFB and also some genetic stuff (but chose the option you recomended at the start of this post for USB stability)
I finish at 12 today, so will recompile with no nvidiaFB first, then reduce the genetic stuff.
on a desktop (gnome) there is a jerkyness to the mouse and everything (abt once a min) and there are around that time log entries going into /var/log/messages - no description, just number like: "[14.999581]" nothing else??

Thanks a lot for the patch fallow, i was able to patch gentoo-dev-sources with it, this seems to be the only stable patchset for 2.6.11 on my P4 reiser4 system. Thanks again

I made a new version of gen4nicksched - 0.03 - inspired on RMH3093 idea to give possibility of selecting range of base_timeslice in version 0.03 You can select from menuconfig range beetwen 4-256,4-128,4-64,4-32.
So If You want increse interactivity of You desktop.
this is a patch to upgrade gen4nicksched in 2.6.11-love2 from 0.02 to 0.03

defualt range in love2 was been 4-256.

There has to be a downside for selecting 128 - or not? Why shouldn't I simply choose 32?
Also, how is this different from

Sorry if it's been answered, but I haven't seen anything specific about it...
I'm just wondering what a "good" setting is for the USB HID Mouse Interrupt Polling Interval setting. I tried 1000 for love 1 but when I booted, my USB mouse didn't even work. Earlier in one of the Love threads, I saw someone using "2", but I wasn't sure if the number 2 was an actual suggestion for the value or an example of setting the option.  I've used that for Love 2, but haven't gotten a chance to boot it yet.

10 is the default, 2 is as low as most mices support... I keep it at 2, and have no problems...

"overall performance" of scheduler is not in linear dependiency of degrading base timeslice.
genetic algorithm is trying to choose best value for it at the current situation based on schedstats.

This option is working with normal NickSched , when Genetic Nicksched is selected this option doin nothing.
( the proper option for genetic Nicksched is selecting a range ) . I must make a dependiency for this option like to be active when genetic nicksched isn`t selected in next version

I emerged the release, compiled, and than noticed that there's no supermount.
I downloaded patch from http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/2.6/2.6.11/2.6.11-ck1/patches/supermount-ng208-2611.diff, but it gives error:

i notice my differences in idle temperature, and work load temp by using smaller (lower) timeslices over over larger ones, not so much in speed, plus I have a laptop and I use cpufreq, with genetic nick, the ondemand transitions seem smoother and faster, so it would be interesting if battery life is improved?

Yes there is, and it's called ivman. See here for a howto. Supermount is just plain evil. If you want to fix it, you got to fix the failed hunks. There are other alternatives simular to ivman as well, like submount, gnome-volume-manager, project utopia (from Ubuntu), ...

ok this kernel is FAST!!!!!
disabled nvidiaFB and rebooted. The normal framebuffer (the tg one I am using - bad grammar) took about 1/2 a second to start. IE large font size and black - then by bootspash kicked in (so a bit worse then love1)
But it got to init in like 1sec!!!!!!
no oops at all!!
one annoying thing though, the desktop still seems to lag a bit, no where near as much as with nvidiafb but still the mouse seems a bit laggy. also I have a gdesklet starterbar and the icon bounce seems jerky (not smooth with other kernels..)
My log file is getting filled up but not as much - what is all of this and how to stop it

well in the time it took me to post the last post desktop seems alot more responsive and the starterbar is smooth again - could that be the genetics stabilsing?

Wait, why would nvidiafb affect your desktop?! Shouldn't you be running X with the nvidia driver, which is a whole separate story? My X wouldn't even start with Nvidia's drivers because of nvidiafb.

Well I had teh FB-tg enabled and then nvidiafb and also the nvidia kernel
As I said booted with nvidiafb but got a oops - somehow it recovered and carried on but hte whole desktop was jerky and laggy - but it worked (and filled my log up)
with no nvidiafb it booted fine (and fast!!!! - bloody fast) the odd desktop jerkyness and log still getting filled but down from 1per 10sec to 1per min (which is still anoying love1 didn't do that)

well... I was using the love1 version... I tought I should give this one a shot... emerged, set the configs... and when I his make && make modules_install I got some parse error...
the weird part is that now, I can't run make meuconfig
