I'm trying to get rosegarden (a MIDI sequencing program) to work, and it's giving me a lot of problems. I have a Creative PCI 128 card, which doesn't seem to have a MIDI synth, so I've installed iiwusynth, and want to use that.
Here's what I get when I try running rosegardensequencer (jackd is running in the background):
Code: |
fcntl: Bad file descriptor <-------- This repeats quite a few times, whenever I start any KDE app. Any ideas?
rosegardensequencer: created plugin manager
MappedAudioPluginManager::discoverPlugins - discovering plugins
Rosegarden AlsaDriver - alsa-lib version 0.9.0rc6
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:446:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file o r directory
AlsaDriver::generateInstruments() - couldn't open sequencer - No such file or di rectory
AlsaDriver::jackBufferSize - buffer size changed to 1024
AlsaDriver::jackSampleRate - sample rate changed to 48000
AlsaDriver::initialiseAudio - JACK sample rate = 48000
AlsaDriver::initialiseAudio - initialised JACK audio subsystem
AlsaDriver::initialiseAudio - JACK playback latency 0.042666R
AlsaDriver::initialiseAudio - JACK record latency 0.021333R
rosegardensequencer: RosegardenSequencer - started OK
rosegardensequencer: seq.c:875: snd_seq_query_next_client: Assertion `seq && inf o' failed.
KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = rosegardensequencer path = <unknown> pid = 17518
fcntl: Bad file descriptor <---------- This repeats several times as well
|
Also, on iiwusynth -m alsa_seq:
Code: |
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:446:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory
iiwusynth: error: Error opening ALSA sequencer
Failed to create the MIDI input handler
|
/dev/snd/seq is indeed not there. The following devices are in that directory:
Code: | controlC0 midiC0D0 pcmC0D0c pcmC0D0p pcmC0D1p timer |
My /etc/modules.d/alsa (uncommented):
Code: |
alias char-major-116 snd
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias snd-card-0 snd-ens1371
alias sound-slot-0 es1371 # Tried snd-ens1371 and ens1371 as well, doesn't seem to make a difference
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
alias /dev/mixer snd-mixer-oss
alias /dev/dsp snd-pcm-oss
alias /dev/midi snd-seq-oss
options snd cards_limit=1
|
So I need to get that /dev/snd/seq... the ebuild seemes to have configured ALSA with --enable-sequencer. Any ideas?[/code] _________________ Tactless

Creative Vibra 128 card apparently have no hardware synth... not sure if that could be the problem. |

...that worked... should've known. Now do I add that to modules.autoload, or is there some more appropriate way of getting it to run on startup (perhaps via /etc/init.d/alsasound?). _________________ Tactless
