If you want mpeg4 support in daapd, make sure you have BOTH the "mpeg4" and "aac" USE flags enabled. If you have only the mpeg4 flag, the build will fail looking for the "mp4.h" file.

I couldn't find a good solution to this in the forums already, so I thought I'd share my findings.
