|
|
Hi I'm new to the forum. Here's my problem, when I install ati-drivers-8.8.25 every time I logout from KDE or Gnome the X lockup.
All I can see is blank screen. I tried <alt><cntl><backspace> no dice. Keyboard and mouse doesn't respond.
I tried to start X in the terminal using startx command it work fine, but if I shudown the X server and tried to start it again, it lockup.
I read in the forum that if you change the kernel from gentoo-dev-source to development-sources the lockup will be resolved.
I tried that, but I got the same result. In the past ati-drivers work for me. The problem start when I install xorg-x11-6.8.0-r4.
Back when I was still using XFree86 I have no problem with the ati-drivers.
Here is the spec of my PC:
Dell Dimension 8250
Pentium 4 2.4G Hz
512M PC1066 RDRAM
ATI Radeon 9700TX
Thanks |

Welcome to the hell of ATI drivers. Your problem is felt by others but unfortunately there is no solution. I run xorg 6.7 and ati drivers 3.14.6 instead. |

Thanks Mongrol for responding. I guest I have to wait until ATI get the driver right or downgrade xorg and ati-drivers. Again Thanks. |
