hi,
i was trying zinf cause xmms don't want to play mp3 stream (whatever server (icecast or shoutcast)). i really like streamtuner, but want i hit play, xmms open, but no buffering appear... is rhythbox support ogg and mp3 incoming streaming?
it's really bad that emerge zinf don't work...

zinf compiles fine at me, with these flags:
Code: | [ebuild R ] media-sound/zinf-2.2.5-r1 +X +alsa -arts -debug +esd +gnome +gtk +ipv6 +nls +oggvorbis 0 kB |
try not to use arts support, maybe thats causes the problem

rhythmbox is really a bad audio program! it doesn't support jack or at least alsa... damn, all this installation for nothing.
will try zinf without arts.

heh, I wonder how I've been listening online radios with rhythmbox for weeks then..
Rhythmbox definitely supports alsa, you'll just have to configure gstreamer (with the help of our friend google) correctly

The error is due to arts. Configure found part of it. Make sure all arts ebuild are cleaned off if not using them. Zinf is still being worked on by a few programmers and they are currently rebuilding the program to support XML through the whole program. A pretty good alternative is beep-media-player. I use that when I need to load one file or a playlist. I also use rhythmbox when I want to do whole albums. |
