I am tempted to try out gcc-4.0.2-r1, but I want to know if it is worth it first.
Specifically, do packages still break a lot with it? Are binaries still slower? Am I crazy? _________________ Knowledge is power.

Binaries compiled with gcc 4 are usually slightly slower but there is also cases where they are faster. My system is built with gcc 4.0.2-r1 (custom overlay with additional visibility fixes) and it works great. And benchmark results in ubench and lmbench are now higher than they where when using gcc 3.4. |
