|
|
First Hello and sorry for my english is bad.
I have a DFI Lanparty SLI, i buy a nvidia 6600 and now i have dual head, i am thinking
in buy another card but i have a question.
I buy a non-sli card because i don't want SLI, but i don't known if i can connect two card (example 6600)
to the sli pcie slots or need buy two SLI card if i want two card pcie independent (if i am correct sli
mean two cards working like one) and i want two card independent. Perhaps i need buy a simple second PCI card
and forget PCI-E for the second card or i can connect two PCI-E non-sli cards to the slots. I read something about
first PCI-E slot work 16x and second like 2X on no sli-mode or something like this ¿any idea? |

I could be wrong about this but right now SLI doesn't work with linux and I don't think there is anyway to use two cards without SLI. Hope that answers your question |

By default, the NForce SLI-chipset won't use two PCIe graphics adapters in SLI. It will interpret them as two separate cards. I agree with knACk, the first PCIe-slot will utilize 16 lanes and the second will utilize 1 lane in non-SLI-mode.
To use SLI you will need two cards with the same chipset and specify that you want SLI both on your motherboard and in Windows, since SLI do not yet work in Linux. _________________ "A stroll through a lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything." |

You can use two PCIe graphics adapters simultaneously, without using SLI. Also, enabling SLI in hardware will probably not hinder using them separately unless you enable SLI in software as well, I can't promise that though.
Anyway, don't hesitate buying two PCIe-cards, you might find use for them sooner than you think. _________________ "A stroll through a lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything." |
