Graphic card change

Hello.

I'm currently using Gnome on X.org, with a NVIDIA 5600FX with the nvidia drivers. I am going to purchase tomorrow a NVIDIA 6600GT. Will I need to change anything config-related to work with X and framebuffer? Will I need to compile anything?

I'm not sure, but I think a simple "emerge nvidia-kernel nvidia-glx" should be all you'll need to do. Maybe not even that. Your existing X config should still work fine.

just reinstall nvidia-kernel and do opengl-update.

Make sure you have the latest drivers in portage as the lower ones wont work on the 6600

Thank you all. Everything worked fine! X started without any hassle. I just re-emerged nvidia-kernel for good measure.
