keep getting this when trying to rebootstrat. comming from a fresh stage 3 install. any ideas?

What are your CFLAGS? Overagressive CFLAGS when compiling binutils, or hardware like Segmentation fault with GCC seem like the most likely culprits to me.

Shouldn't be, but I guess you could try dropping to arch=pentium3 and remerging binutils and see if anything improves. Have you bootstrapped this system with previous versions of GCC? Ever had any strange compiler errors that weren't reproducible?

nope never had anything weird like that everything has always compiled like a charm... just runnin into alot of different errors trying to do this fresh install with gcc 3.2

i have the same problem thi only thing is that i was "playing" with the use flags now I cant compile anything .. i thought to re compile with emptytree with my original make.conf but i cant compile athing :cry:

march-athlon-mp (assuming it's a typo for the -) I didn't knew that athlon mp add extra instructions in comparison to athlon xp??? which ones????

If you upgraded binutils recently, take a look at this topic: binutils upgrade (to 2.15.92.0.2-r3) causes gcc to segfault.
