|
|
I just did an emerge -u world about 3 days ago, and ever since then, i get a wierd emerge error when i try and use "world" or "depclean", or other arguments like that with portage.
it says
Quote: | !!! all ebuilds that could satisfy ">=sys-apps/man-1.5k-r1" have been masked.
|
So i look in my packages.mask file, and the only thing that comes remotely close to man-1.5k-r1 is groff, where it says
Quote: | # <azarah@gentoo.org> (29 Jul 2002)
# I have major formatting problems with this one .. even
# just viewing manpages it do not handle properly, so
# PLEASE make sure that this works for most people, or
# that you have a definate fix!!!!
=sys-apps/groff-1.18
=sys-apps/groff-1.18-r1
# groff-1.18-r2 works with man-1.5k-r1 ...
# <azarah@gentoo.org> (26 Dec 2002) |
I've also emerge synced about a million times, thinking it was just a minor error in the portage tree that would be fixed. If anyone has any tips/suggestions, please post. Thanks |

u can probably get rid of this by uncommenting
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86"
in your make.conf - attention - read the comments in the file... _________________ To an engineer the glass is neither half full, nor half empty - it is just twice as big as it needs to be. |

Ok, it wasn't in my make.conf file, but I added the ACCEPT_KEYWORD line, and now my portage works. But is there anohter way so I don't have to run as unstable/testing. Isn't that what ACCEPT_KEYWORDS does? |

i guess the developer had a reason to mask it unstable - so u got only two options left: wait for the fix, or use the developement version. i'd prefer the second option - if u encounter an error, u can tell the developer (at bugs.gentoo.org) and the stable version will be out faster
and yes there are other ways to accomplish this too: u could give portage the complete path of all the ebuilds (like: emerge /usr/portage/app-admin/aide/aide-0.9.ebuild) - u have to do this for all the dependencies, or u could unmask all the unstable dependencies in /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask, but changing make.conf is the fastest solution to this problem... _________________ To an engineer the glass is neither half full, nor half empty - it is just twice as big as it needs to be. |
