Wavy VESA FB after loading X?

Hope I posted this in the right forum

I just merged the newest nvidia drivers. I also use VESA FB for the console. The FB works fine until X loads - but after if I CTRL+ALT+n back to a tty the text is distorted (wavy even). No I haven't been hitting the reefer, it's actually waving and hard to read.

I searched the forums and asked in #gentoo, but no one really knows how to fix this.

It didn't happen with the 1.0.3 nvidia drivers (everything worked perfectly).

I am using the 2.4.20-vanilla kernel.

Anyone have any ideas?
