|
|
I have downloaded a binary linmodem driver for an ess es2838 winmodem which was compiled for a 2.4.18 kernel under gcc 2. When I insert it, insmod says that it was compiled with gcc 2 and my kernel was compiled with gcc 3 and that it will therefore not work. I tried using the force option, and it inserted, but whenever I try and access or use the esscom device, my computer freezes and I have to reboot. Anyone have an idea of how I can fix this other than recompiling my kernel under gcc 2?? |

i am pretty sure that your driver an your kernel should both be compiled with the same gcc version, so you can:
1)recompile your kernel with gcc2
2)search a driver compiled with gcc3
3)search the source of the driver and compile it with gcc3 _________________ My favorite links this month:
