Thank you, to all gentoo dev.
I have finaly been able to do what I had been wanting to do since I first gave a look to a slackware 3.0. (my first linux ever). Switch, and don't feel the need to go back to windows.
The distro works well, it is powerfull, flexible, a pleasure to use. Thanks again. When I'll get a job and money, I'll probably donate to gentoo. Untill then, I'll say it loud:
GENTOO ROCKS |

I use gentoo as a PVR (along with three of my work mates), 2 serious development servers at work, launch pad for developing an embedded linux install and countless other things. Its got to be the most configurable, versitile and stable disto out there.
Thanks guys!

For nearly a year I tried many distros. Mandrake, Knoppix (HD install), Slackware, etc. Then I found Gentoo. I have not since looked back; everything they do, Gentoo does better. The software is top-notch, the community is friendly, and everything is thoroughly (read: beautifully) documented.
Thanks to everyone who made Gentoo possible, and everyone else who continues to make it better! |

This is my 3rd day using Gentoo. First distro was Slak back in the mid 90s. Next was Redhat(I'm actually an RHCE). Then I switched to Suse about 2 years back and now I've tried Gentoo. In 3 days, I'm hooked. Really kicking myself for not trying gentoo sooner. I mean, this is like the good old days when I first discovered Linux, minus the poor documention and the other major hurdles of those earlier days. On one level, it has a large degree of elegant simplicity, but on another level, it has the power and customizeability that comes from a raw DIY implementation. Yin and Yang if you will.
This is a first rate Linux distro. No other distro I've tried has come close to this level of ease, combined with this level of power and customizeability. Too many distro's think ease of use means making it work like windows. That might be great for joe sixpack, but it simply doesn't even begin to exploit the power of open source like gentoo does. Can't compliment the gentoo developers enough. Thank you. You've really helped me get excited about my computers and Linux again. |

gonna hop onto that waggon
I've been using M$ crap exclusively since MS Dos 5.0. Between 98 and today i installed 3-4 Suses, 2-3 Redhats, One Mandrake, 3 Debians but was never happy with it. Packagemanagement was horrid, it was basically impossible to get a working computer without using third-party suplied packages (like mplayer in debian). All in all it was just as crappy as windows for different reasons. Tried Gentoo 9 Months ago and have learned more about linux than ever before.
Rest assured, part of my first proper salary (i'm an apprentice) will we a gentoo donation
Thx again for well done job |

I'll add my hearty Thank You as well. I've used a lot of different distros over the past few years and Gentoo is the first one I've been happy with right out of the gate. I don't think I'll be "distro-hopping" for a long time to come. _________________ MasonM

Yes, thank you gentoo devs for the outstanding metadistribution that I now use exclusively. I was a previous Mandrake / SuSE user, but the rpm system gets old. I think it was when I got a speedy connection when I decided to get "gutsy" and build a gentoo system. I have been a happy gentoo user / aspiring c++ developer / gamer. So thank you, you have made GNU/Linux fun to use. _________________ Registered Linux User #365191 |

Thanks all developers and community as well.
I've been using Gentoo since version 1.4. I have both servers and desktops running gentoo and I could not think using any other distro anymore (exept livecd-distros).
Thanks especially for Portage (Gentoo's best and worst thing ;p) and great documentation.
Thank you! _________________ Registered Linux-user #256243 |

Muchas gracias los diseñadors del Gentoo. You are a credit to the spirit of Linux and open source software, and have created a true example of what happens when great minds come together in the spirit of cooporation and contribute to the computing community. Again, many thanks. _________________ "That question was less stupid; though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way."

A huge thank you to the developers. I've installed gentoo on almost every machine I can get my hands on, including a production
server, my laptop, my desktop, and my work computer. It is an excellent distribution, and allows me to focus more on what I want
to do, than installing software.
I've donated a small amount to show my appeciation. I encourage others to do the same! |
