|
|
hello everybody,
I've got a new laptop with P4M 3.2, ATI Radeon 9100 IGP and ATI-IXP chipset. Native Xorg-6.8.* Radeon drivers work but give me about 650 fps running glxgears in 24bpp mode/default window size. I tried to run my son's favorites like AAO or NWN and it's totally unplatable.
Even my old laptop with P4M 1.8 and ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 gives me about 540 fps and acceptable frame rate playing those games.
Ok. I've installed ati-drivers-8.8.25-r3 along with Xorg-6.8.2. Everything seems to be just fine beside a couple complains
Code: |
No matching visual for __GLcontextMode with visual class = 3 (32772), nplanes = 8
No matching visual for __GLcontextMode with visual class = 3 (32772), nplanes = 8
|
BUT, whenever i start any OpenGL programm, including glxgeatr or fgl_glxgears, my computer gets frozen and requires power off/on cycle.
Yes:
1) I don't have any DRI related stuff in my kernel (2.6.10-gentoo-r7)
2) I do have my AGP support modules (agpgart + ati_agp)
3) I ran opengl-update ati after building ati-drivers and few time later
4) I tried both "yes" and "no" for "UseInternalAGPGART" option (when it was "no" i loaded ati_agp&agpgart modules before flgrx one)
Here is what I get when I start X

Any idea what could cause that problem?
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions |

If you enable composite that disables DRI, but I dont see how that accounts for GLX apps failing. Try disabling composite and trying it. Also try upgrading to the newest ATI Drivers.

Steve,
Thanks for reply! I belive 8.8.25 is the latest ATI driver and it is installed. And I don't have COMPOSITE extension enabled. Well, nothing has changed when I explicitly disabled it by adding "Extensions" section to my xorg.conf.
Looks like proprietary ATI driver doesn't support mobile version of this chipset
Unfortunately, DRI Radeon driver from Xorg-6.8.2 gives me very low performance. All OpenGL games work even slower than on another laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon 7500.

Wow! Newest ATI driver is 8.10.19 now. Unfortunately, according to ATI web site
Quote: | Caution: This software driver provides 2D support only for the ATI RADEON™ 9100 IGP and ATI RADEON 9100 PRO IGP. |
End of story |
