I do not know where to start on this. BUt here we go

I never built the screensavers for gnome but my screen still goes black (At some interval that I have not timed) lets just say 10 minutes.

When I return and move my mouse, hit a key, my screen comes back but it is not redrawn correctly. Most of the screen has what I call snow, and it is not untill I highlight each panel and click on the desktop does this "snow" go away.

I believe this to be that the screen is not redrawing but I don't know where to start trouble shooting this problem.

I am using a Sparc Ultra 2 with a 3D Creator video card, with Xorg.

Any Idea's?

I had this problem on a Creator3D version 1 card.
I upgraded to a Creator3D version 3 card and that fixed it.

The Creator3D version 3 card (ffb2+) was $9.99USD on ebay.

This problem is because the kernel's screen blanking seems to interfere with X's screen blanking, and results in corrupt regions of video memory. You can force the screen to be redrawn by flipping to a VC and back (ctrl-alt-F1, then alt-F7). I don't know of an easy way to completely turn off the kernel's screen blanking.

Ok, this makes sence.

Anyone got any Idea's? I guess I will start looking though the kernel configs to see if there is something.
