|
|
I cannot get my net connection back...
my nic shows up in lspci and lsmod...
but during the startup, i get this type of error:
Bringing up eth0 via DHCP
-problem starting needed services: 'netmount' was not started
-problem starting needed services: 'sshd' was not started
I'm pretty sure i'm using the write module - 3c59x for a 3com 3c905B nic
what could the problem be? any troubleshooting suggestions...?
your help is appreciated... |

And I am guessing that during bootup now, you no longer get an IP address. Correct ??
If so, what changes have you made recently? Are you sure your connection is working? What happens after bootup if you try to manually get IP address using dhcp? _________________ All reality is the construct of the observer.

when i do an ifconfig, it only gives the reading for 'lo' not for eth0.
i think my problem happened from overwriting my network file during a etc-update.
not sure how to check if i have a connection, doing a ping returns nothing.. |

make sure that the correct module is loaded for your ethernet card.. I am fairly certain that the card should show up in ifconfig, even without an ip address, if the module is loaded. _________________ All reality is the construct of the observer.
