neotyk: indeed. welcome to the beagle club
spijon: if you read the guide I wrote, you will see exacty where to get the patch, pay attention - you must use the 0.17 version of Inotify. I would rather patch my kernel myself, rather than use a highly prepatched kernel - but that's just me!
Mon: Yes - version 0.18 of Inotify is for beagle CVS only and WILL cause problems with beagle-0.0.5. You have been warned - use Inotify 0.17 with beagle-0.0.5...
sog: What exactly are the problems with memory consumption? It runs here for at least 24 hours now non-stop (the daemon and best), and nothing went wrong... I have about 340 MB RAM, and 500 MB swap. |

I already tried out beagle, but i couldn't get it to work with my reiser4 partitions, because i cannot mount them with xattr, can anyone confirm that beagle doesn't run on reiser4? Thanks. _________________ We are not alone. |

I can't get it to work on reiser4 either. I tried setting the mount option, but the partition wouldn't mount. Beagled won't start without it either. _________________ No guilt in life, no fear in death

spijon: Use this patch with a 2.6.10 kernel:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/rml/inotify/v2.6/0.17/inotify-0.17-rml-2.6.10-2.patch
davidblewett and WladyX: Like I already said before, reiser4 is a special filesystem, that wants to change the standard ways of which other filesystem works. That's why it has no support for conventional extended attributes, and won't have - it aims to replace extended attributes with a different system of metadata. This is not yet supported by beagle, and probably will not be any time soon, because reiser4 is not considered stable and mainstream enough for the beagle developers to support it. It might be though possible and rather not too difficult to write a patch for beagle to support reiser4 - but somebody needs to do it... |

mmh i got some problems ...
if i try to demonize beagle as user in a while i got Code: | INFO: Found 823 logs in 5,26s
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x08307000 ***
|
instead as root it works but can find only a few things ie. help, menu, gaim ... seems only *.desktop files ... i think there are some problems during indexing process ... any idea? _________________ Ma che c'hai là? Sulla spalla!!!! http://lascimmia.it/ |

unz: the invalid pointer error is harmless as far as i know. Beagle is a personal searching tool and thus it only indexes the user's home directory. That could explain why as root you didn't get much in the index.
Other than that I could't exactly understand what's the problem, if you can be more specific... |

You must install dbus-sharp, but AFAIK it is not in portage. _________________ We are not alone. |

sprite: All you need to do is probably exactly what it says there in the info you pasted, as well as in this guide: add "mono" and "dbus" to your USE flags in /etc/make.conf. After you add those, you should run:
Code: | # emerge -Dauv --newuse world |
Then try to emerge gnome-extra/beagle and see how it goes. |

i re-emerged them after the first time i saw that... and even after i did.. that error still showed up..
Code: | USE="mono dbus" emerge -pv dbus gmime

The mono use flag is hard masked in /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/amd64/use.mask.
I don't know if it's advisable to do so, but I just tweaked it... dbus & gmime compile okay, but I'm having problems with beagle:

Mafteah: hey, nice to meet someone else from Israel here
I'm sorry but I don't know the solution to your problem. Are you using the ebuilds from portage? (except beagle itself of course)
Maybe you can find something here:

So what's the deal with gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.10? It has an older version of inotify? So I need the patch? |
