hi all,
Does any body know if I can use this with linux? I wanted to go out to a minidisc recorder through the optical input. The asus a7n266vm has the nforce chipset. Nothing about the spdif in the nvidia docs, that I could see. Thanks!

If it's possible, it'll only be possible through ALSA. I have ALSA 0.9r6 (cvs) running on my nForce2, and there are options for my SPDIF out, but I have nothing I could hook up to it to test.

Nvidia's audio driver sucks large quantities if you want anything more than simple stereo sound done entirely in software....

yeah, i agree on the nforce audio. I gave up on it and just use the kernel sound. But nvidia's drivers are the only game in town for my network driver. I can plugin my md recorder to a cd with digital out and it syncs with track times and all that. I see a beam of some kind coming out. Thought something might be possible with the mobo too. I guess alsa's the way to go. Haven't checked if the audigy linux stuff utilizes the spdif.
