I'm running gentoo on Sun E250 and I have to use 2.6 kernel(I need support for more than 32 supplementary groups). I tryed to use gentoo-dev-sources 2.6.7, 2.6.9, 2.6.10 and it's always the same, system freezes about every 2-4 weeks. I don't see any other simular topics, so I suppose I'm only one who having this troubles? Any ideas? |

This is a known problem, apparently with all kernel-2.6.xx versions. I wans't aware that it hadn't shown up
here for discussion, but there has been a lot of activity both on the gentoo-sparc mailing list and
on #gentoo-sparc IRC channel on FreeNode.
I do not know the current status beyond that the kernel developers are aware of it. The problem is not
Gentoo-specific; it affects anyone using 2.6.xx.
You might ask on #gentoo-sparc to see if there has been any progress on this. I believe it is the
main reason Gentoo sparc cannot move to make the 2.6.xx kernel series its deault.
Sorry for the no news is bad news response.
