yahoopops is a sourceforge project that is a bit supperior to fetchyahoo which is in portage (it supports mail dirs AFAIK) ...i would really like to have it in portage

Get involved! Submit it to bugzilla as a portage request, or better yet check out the ebuild docs and write it yourself!
