I have recently got a mac mini, and am trying to install portage for macosx. I have downloaded the installer ran it, and then emerge sync, and ran bootstrap. Bootsrtrap linked it to /usr/portage/profiles/default-darwin/macos/10.3 however that file does not exist, I tried linking it to the only similar file there, 10.4, and it would not emerge system due to dependency issues. I am running macosx 10.3.7. Can anyone help me?

Matt

well a redo of emerge --sync worked. now i cant emerge system do to this

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "sys-devel/autoconf" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- sys-devel/autoconf-2.13 (masked by: ~ppc keyword)
- sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r5 (masked by: missing keyword)
- sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r6 (masked by: ~ppc keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.
!!! (dependency required by "net-misc/wget-1.9.1-r2" [ebuild])

!!! Problem with ebuild net-misc/wget-1.9.1-r2
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.

!!! Depgraph creation failed.

Okay I fixed that too... but now yet another problem has arised. >>> Completed installing into /var/tmp/portage/cpio-2.6/image/

* checking 7 files for package collisions
existing file /usr/share/man/man1/cpio.1 is not owned by this package

is it safe to kill colision detection for this?

Good, you're making progress... I overwrote lots of files that had collision-protection. But I also have a complete backup of my system on a second hard drive, so if anything is really hosed, I can go back. I had no trouble with cpio, so I think you can go for it. But it's your box, and your risk...
Good luck

so i fixed the readline by taking out one of the patch, it was duped so the code was patched twice. Now my new question, color ls, do i just crush over what os x has, and bison, can i just get rid of mac os x's to?

Did I do something wrong?
