(AMD Athlon XP 1700+ / 256 SDRAM / 40 Gb HHD )
icon_frown.gif I'm trying to install the 1.4_rc2 but i can't do it, here the reason: :cry:
code listing 12.1: Bootstrapping
# cd /usr/portage
# scripts/bootstrap.sh
and it tells me that there is no such file or directory! before that i edit the file "make.config"
* Build-time: USE="X gtk gnome -alsa"
* Host settings: CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
* Host and optimization settings: CFLAGS="-m cpu=athlon-xp -03 -pipe" CXXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
* Advanced Masking: ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~arch"
* Portage directories: PORTAGE_TMPDIR=/var/tmp
* Portdir: PORTDIR=usr/portage
* Distdir: DISTDIR=${PORTDIR}/distfiles
* Pkdir: PKDIR={PORTDIR}/packages
* Outdir_overlay: PORTDIR_OVERLAY=/usr/portage
* Fetching files: i let it as it was...
(i put this just in case... ;)
another thing...the file "profile.conf" was empty...this is normal??? :roll:

Thanks for your help!

Yes, it is the 1 stage.

Anyway...i didn't do that:

Now it's time to create the /etc/resolv.conf file so that name resolution (finding Web/FTP sites by name, rather than just by IP address) will work.
Here's a template to follow for creating your /etc/resolv.conf file:
Code listing 5.5: /etc/resolv.conf template
domain mydomain.com
nameserver 10.0.0.1
nameserver 10.0.0.2

Doing that (coping from the resolv.conf.orig) it solve the problem and i'm installing it 8)

Thanks anyway :-)
