Hi all,

I've decided to move out of the divx -> vcd thread, to avoid filling it with my woes.

mp2enc is not doing the good stuff within transcode for anything, mp3 -> mp2, avi -> mp2....

I have emerged all the different versions of mjpegtools, transcode, avifile, mplayer, ffmpeg, in all kinds of different orders; but the result is always the same. I've tried -O2 and removing -fomit-frame-pointer, but there was no change either.

my transcode export_mp2enc.so lib seems to be mmm, well screwed. But mp2enc is working. Any chance someone has a copy I can download (letting me know from which version of transcode in the portage tree). Maybe need a new export_mp2enc.la as well? It would need to be able to function on a Pentium 3 system. GCC 3.2.1

Ideas and pointers very welcome.

An Example:
Code:

bash-2.05b$ transcode -i /mnt/ntfs/my_mp3/Cast/AllChange/Alright.mp3 -y mp2enc -

bump

update, it is just mp3 -> mp2 that is not working

mp3 to anything else works, encoding anything other than mp3 to mp2 works.

This doesn't make any sense at all.

I'm getting ready to go on a trip with a friend and his two kids, so I decided to change some of my disney dvd's to svcd for them to watch on my laptop... unfortunately, I'm getting exactly the same error as pablored :( Any suggestions or pointers on where to look to resolve this would be helpful - I'm really a newbie at anything dvd/svcd/divx/blah and converting between one format and another.

in general, I haven't found any decent documentation on any of these programs, on top of the fact that I'm a multimedia newb. Also note, that I don't particularly want to use divx - there'll be a dvd player at our destination, I'd like to be able to play the movies on the laptop as well as at his aunt's house.

thx
gwydion

Hi,
just stumbled over these posts to transcode-user:

http://www.Theorie.Physik.UNI-Goettingen.DE/pipermail/transcode-users/2003-January/005933.html
http://www.Theorie.Physik.UNI-Goettingen.DE/pipermail/transcode-users/2003-January/005942.html

So we can hope that in the next ebuild this issue is getting fixed :-)

(Didnt try it myself, had no time yet...)

hand, Mike

I am experiencing this same issue as documented above.

I have just recently built all the applications in the last few days for the first time in Gentoo and am currently rebuilding them though I do not believe anything new is there.

Is it possible to point me in a direction as I am still not able to transcode anything for VCD or SVCD as mentioned above.

I will include the error code below in case a more experienced eye can pull something else out of it, but I believe it to be the same issue.

This is output from dvdrip.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Code:

Job 'Transcoding video - title #4, single pass' failed.

Executed command: transcode -a 0 -x vob -i /home/mmc/dvd-rips/venom/vob/004 -w 2620 -F 5,' -B 129' --export_asr 2 -b 128 -s 1.000 --a52_drc_off -V  -f 24,1 -g 720x480 -M 2 -Y -24,0,-24,0 -B 6,30,8 -y mpeg2enc,mp2enc -E 44100 --psu_mode --nav_seek /home/mmc/dvd-rips/venom/tmp/venom-004-nav.log --no_split  -o /home/mmc/dvd-rips/venom/avi/004/venom-004 && echo DVDRIP_SUCCESS

Have you tried using mplayer as input filter for video & audio? (use the -x mplayer, mplayer option in transcode).
