I recently installed Gentoo, and have been trying to get gnome working. I've been using the gentoo doc for installing gnome, and everything seems fine, up until I get to the part where I have to autoconfig the xorg.conf file. I get a fatal error (IO something something error 104). So since I'm having this problem I cannot startx into gnome. I have an eMachines M5310 notebook http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=eMachines_M5310 and I would assume it is the graphics chip that's giving me this problem (check link for specs.) So I've tried emerge ati-drivers, and flgrxconfig (or whatever the command it and have had no success. So let me know if I need to post any config files or logs. |

Have you tried running "xorgconfig" to generate a new /etc/X11/xorg.conf for your hardware???

Yes I've done xorgconfig. I'll try posting the log file, once I can figure out how to copy paste the text, lol. |
