How can I emerge emacs without any widgets at all in X? It is fine if it still opens up in its own window though when in X. I am guessing there is some USE flag that could be set to fix this. Suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,

i think specifying no X prior to emerge might do it.
i'm trying currently so i don't have to use the motif widgets, why use them when it's the only program that needs them for me so far?
i like plain jane emacs anyway, (emacs-nox)
so try:
$> USE="-x" emerge -p emacs |

Try negating the flag 'motif'. |
