|
|
I just installed the new 2.5.53 kernel and everything works just fine with the exception of alsa. I had alsa previosly installed with my 2.4.20 kernel, so I figured I'd just compile the included alsa as modules. The modules do load fine and all, but when I try to do alsamixer or start an application with sound, nothing works. Please help me I am desperate! |

If I'm not mistaken, the 2.5 series has alsa support (modules, etc) natively. If that's true, ya shouldn't need to emerge the seperate ebuild... |

when did he say that he emerged the alsa ebuilds?
just check you have all the entries in /dev/snd that corrospond to your soundcard etc... (pcm, mixer etc...).
If not, try compiling the alsa drivers directly into the kernel (and remember to change your modules.autoload to avoid boot-time errors ) and see if that works.
Hope i can help! |
