|
|
I am new to Gentoo and have never installed it before. I understand the directions but whenever installing any for of linux I am always confused with what files I should download and burn onto the boot cd. I am attempting to do a stage 1 install but I dont know what it is a should download exactly.
If anyone could fill me in with some info that would be great... |

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo/releases/1.4_rc1/
and find your architecture (probably x86 ...if you use other, you should know ) ...and then just download a livecd (livecd-basic-1.4_rc1-r2.iso is fine) ...burn it ...boot it ...have fun installing
btw: stage1 install will take you two or more whole days ....so be prepared _________________ tea+free software+law=hook

well, yeah ...it depends on your HW, what SW you want to use, and what you think of install ...my T-bird 900 took me two days for a COMPLETE install + one day for kde (this includes fine-tuning) _________________ tea+free software+law=hook
