Hi All,
Just a thought crossed my mind... is it worthwhile looking into porting 'portage' to Cygwin and similar environments? (even MIcrosoft's little Unix subsystem)

I'm thinking of doing something along these lines to familiarise myself with the finer points of using Portage and getting to know its internals better. It would seem that all the basic ingredients (python, gcc, etc) are present, it should be trivial to create a Gentoo Cygwin :-)
