Hola a todos:

Compilé el kernel 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 con genkernel-3.2.7 y no me dejó en /boot/ los archivos initrd-2.6.12-gentoo-r6 ni kernel-2.6.12-gentoo-r6, lo cual me impide bootear el PC con ese nuevo kernel.

Usé el siguiente comando: genkernel --menuconfig all

¿Cual será el problema?

mmm.. no te salian mensajes de error?? Lo hiciste desde tu sistema o con un chroot, livecd, etc??

Si lo hiciste desde fuera de tu sistema, asegurate de que /boot es tu particion /boot montada y no la "virtual" que se puede crear con un livecd, si no tienes particion boot, monta aparte / y luego copias los archivos del /boot temporal al tuyo verdadero.

A mi me ha ocurrido alguna vez que genkernel no monta la partición para /boot, de forma que los archivos los deja en el directorio /boot. Es decir, en /boot entendiendolo como un directorio de / , de forma que al montar /boot sobre la partición correspondiente los archivos creados por genkernel no están en /boot... no se si me explico :mrgreen:

Problema resuelto!

La solución fue muy fácil:

Modifiqué el archivo /etc/genkernel.conf de la siguiente manera:

# Add new kernel to grub?
BOOTLOADER="grub"

y al ejecutar genkernel --menuconfig all, instaló en grub.conf de manera automática las lineas necesarias para bootear y utilizar el nuevo kernel compilado, en este caso: 2.6.12-gentoo-r6, incorporando los siguientes archivos:

initramfs-genkernel-x86-2.6.12-gentoo-r6
kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.12-gentoo-r6
y este archivo en /boot/grub
system.map-genkernel-x86-2.6.12-gentoo-r6

y solucionado el problema!!
