Hi,
I want to install WineX/Cedega from CVS (because it's free). So first I thought about checking out and compiling manually and also found a nice script to do this automatically, but the problem is, there are four ebuilds in portage (two are marked as fake ebuilds) and I don't know, whether I could use one of those ebuilds to make portage and findcruft believe that the installed WineX files are no cruft but belong to a package.
Or how did you install WineX?

you just have to copy the existing ebuild to the overlay directory and rename it to whatever si the version you want.maybe you just have to change de mirror, but maybe not _________________ Si el tonto te alaba laméntalo, si el listo te censura piénsalo. |

Hi,
but I don't have a source tar.gz, I just have the source checked out from CVS. Of course I can compile it with make and install it but then I have some files in my file system which don't belong to any portage ebuild and I don't like this idea...

if you compile it
you could make a tarball of it
move it to the /usr/portage/distfiles with the name of the portage wanted file (the ex: cedega_1.4.1.tgz) and make something like
emerge -v --digest cedega
then try to emerge it normally
should work _________________ ------------------------------------
