It's not fair. :(

After updating to the latest nvidia has to offer. Starting up doom3-demo results in a black screen. The only way to exit being ctrl-alt-backspace. I can't figure out how to capture the initial console output so if someone could point out the solution to that little problem then I will have some more info.

Does doom3 have a log?

Thanks for your help.

PS Unreal Tournament 2003 works fine!

Code:
touch doom3.log
doom3 > doom3.log
should work

I tried the above and it just resulted in an empty file. Which I don't understand. Just before the screen goes black the console does fill up with program output, so there should be something in the file.

I'm annoyed with this. I like Doom3

Hi

I have had this problem, and to get around it I edited my
/home/vincent/.doom3-demo/demo/DoomConfig.cfg

seta r_fullscreen "1" and changed it to

seta r_fullscreen "0" this will get doom started in window mode

Basically, what was happening in my case was a 64MB NVIIDIA card is not powerfull enough to run Doom 3 in full screen mode, all I could get was Doom 3 in window mode at the lowest settings.

They are not kidding with their minimum requirments :)

Hope this helps
